HiTech AlkCarb 2016 - 2020

New geomodels to explore deeper for High-Technology critical raw materials in Alkaline rocks and Carbonatites HiTech AlkCarb

The HiTech AlkCarb project was funded under the European Union's Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme, to develop new geomodels and sustainable exploration methods for alkaline igneous rocks and carbonatites.

From Geophysics to 3D-Geology at the Kaiserstuhl Volcanic Complex (KVC)

This video clip was produced within the framework of the EU Horizon 2020 - HiTech AlkCarb Project. It shows the first district scale 3D geological model of the Kaiserstuhl Volcanic Complex (KVC). This is an example of a new data driven geomodel, designed to explore both at surface and at depth for high technology critical raw materials. The KVC is situated in the southern Upper Rhine Graben in south-western Germany. Both extrusive and intrusive rare earth element bearing carbonatite and alkaline rocks are exposed making this complex an ideal natural laboratory for research.
